This book gives a pretty ugly picture of the way the lower classes, such as servants, were treated during the Regency period as well as how dependent women were on others. Was An Offer from a Gentleman worth the listening time? I enjoyed the description of the masquerade ball. I didn't really enjoy listening to him and sometimes found the book a grind to continue on with. He's genuinely not that admirable throughout the book and behaves in some pretty disgusting and self centred ways much of the time, taking advantage of the heroine in a number of ways. The hero is quite abusive and manipulative at times. For a supposed romance, it's not very romantic. The main problem I had with this book is that the so called hero behaves in an extremely ugly fashion on many occasions. What could Julia Quinn have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you? Definitely another book narrated by Rosalyn Landor. Would you try another book written by Julia Quinn or narrated by Rosalyn Landor? Great performance but uncomfortable story
